Campanile ideas for stays, week ends and events

Having made a name for himself in the early 1980s among young sculptors on the English art scene, Richard Deacon is one of those sculptors who launch an attack on the materials directly. Working in ceramics, metal, wood, resin, paper, glass, plastic, leather, fabric, or a mixture of these materials, he describes himself as a fabricator. The forms of his sculptures suggest a biomorphic world full of sensuality, not entirely unrelated to the work of Arp. This exhibition in Strasbourg, Missing Part reunites some forty of his sculptures, created over a 40 year period of astonishing productivity. It also presents for the first time in public, Richard Deacon's early works realised at the end of his studies at St Martin's School of Art and at the Royal College of Art; including sculptures, drawings, photographs and texts documenting performance pieces.
